1. What Is WP AutoVision?
WP AutoVision is a Chrome browser extension that automatically inserts numbered images under H2 headings inside the WordPress Gutenberg block editor. It operates exclusively on WordPress admin pages that the user is already logged into.
2. Data We Collect
WP AutoVision collects only the minimum data necessary to provide its service:
- Email address — collected when you create an account or sign in, used to identify your account and manage your monthly credit usage.
- Password — submitted at signup or login via an encrypted HTTPS POST request. Passwords are hashed server-side and are never stored in plain text or transmitted in URLs.
- Session token — a temporary authentication token generated after login and stored locally on your device to maintain your session between browser restarts.
- Device identifier — a randomly generated ID created and stored locally on your device, used for session integrity and to prevent credit system bypass.
- Credit usage cache — a local record of your remaining monthly free inserts, stored on your device to accurately track your usage.
3. Data We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect your WordPress username or WordPress password.
- We do not access, read, or store the content of your WordPress posts or pages.
- We do not collect your browsing history or monitor any pages outside of WordPress admin.
- We do not collect your IP address, physical location, or GPS data.
- We do not collect payment card information. Premium upgrades are processed by a secure third-party payment provider.
4. How We Use Your Data
The data we collect is used exclusively to:
- Authenticate your account and maintain your login session.
- Track your monthly free insert credits and enforce the free tier limit.
- Verify your Premium subscription status when applicable.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the extension's core function.
5. Data Storage
All account and session data (email, session token, device ID, credit cache) is stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local API. This data remains on your device and is not accessible to other websites or extensions.
Your email address and hashed credentials are stored on our backend, which runs on Google Apps Script infrastructure. This data is used solely for authentication and credit management.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or transfer your personal data to any third parties. Your data is never used for advertising, shared with marketing platforms, or disclosed to any third party except as required by law.
The extension communicates with our Google Apps Script backend (script.google.com) for authentication and credit tracking. No other external services receive your data.
7. Permissions Used
- activeTab — to interact with your open WordPress editor tab when you click Insert.
- scripting — to insert image blocks into the Gutenberg editor on your WordPress page.
- storage — to save your session and credit data locally on your device.
- Host access to wp-admin and wp-json — to run inside your WordPress editor and communicate with the WordPress REST API.
- Host access to script.google.com — to communicate with our authentication and credit management backend.
8. Data Retention
Local data (session token, device ID, credit cache) is stored until you sign out or uninstall the extension. Account data on our backend is retained as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account data at any time by contacting us.
9. Children's Privacy
WP AutoVision is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
11. Contact
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or how your data is handled, please contact us via WhatsApp or through the Chrome Web Store support page for WP AutoVision.
